In 2007, global security spending had reached $220 billion a year, according to independent research. Furthermore, the market has witnessed an annual 30 percent growth in spending since then, specifically in network surveillance related products, such as network video recorders and IP Cameras.

"Even though many companies took a big hit with the global financial crisis, government agencies and enterprises both acknowledge the urgency of installing relevant and suitable surveillance systems," said Edward Hill, Communications and Security Manager at Plustek. "The issue that needs to be addressed however is how to upgrade the existing systems in a cost efficient way and still improve other related functions. This is the challenge the network surveillance industry has to face."
