Specialty Retailer Selects Pivot3 Technology For Video Surveillance Upgrade

Pivot3 Inc. recently announced that Spec’s Wine, Spirits and Finer Foods has deployed Pivot3's Serverless Computing as part of its robust video surveillance upgrade across its more than 60 stores.

The Pivot3 CloudBank array running Video Insight video management software was selected to enhance the reliability and availability of captured video to enhance security, reduce losses and manage liability.

"If we can avoid one fraudulent claim of slip-and-fall, our surveillance system pays for itself," said Mary Evans, loss prevention manager, Spec's Wine, Spirits and Finer Foods.

Spec's Wine, Spirits and Finer Foods recently implemented a stringent internal policy to store recorded video for a period of two years to investigate any liability claims. Spec's worked closely with integrator ASAP Security Services to find a cost-effective external storage solution that protected data in the case of failures and identified faulty drives prior to a failure.

"We examined all the storage vendors in the marketplace and it quickly became clear that Pivot3 was an ideal solution for Spec's Wine, Spirits and Finer Foods," said Michael Monsive, president of ASAP Security Services. "As an integrator, we look to install technology that is reliable, scalable and easily maintainable. The Pivot3 CloudBank enables our customers to expand by simply adding additional appliances, and with the virtual server running on the appliance, it decreases the likelihood of a failure."

Pivot3 Serverless Computing storage with embedded virtual servers provides instant video search and retrieval, reliable storage and better image quality when compared to standard DVRs. The Pivot3 solution also provides self-healing failover protection for both the storage and server applications to effectively eliminate costly downtime.

With the combined solution of Pivot3 and Video Insight's video management software, Spec's image retention time has been expanded, and the system is reliable and easy to maintain. In addition, Spec's has benefited from world-class service and sales support as it has implemented its innovative security initiatives.

"Purchasing technology is only part of the equation; it is the ongoing service after the sale that makes a difference," Evans said. "ASAP Security Services, Pivot3 and Video Insight met those needs and then went beyond expectations with exceptional customer service."

"More than ever, retailers such as Spec's are relying on high-resolution video surveillance to help control losses and liability risks," said Lee Caswell, founder and chief marketing officer of Pivot3. "Retail is one of the fastest growing market segments in the physical security space. As customers expand the use of video surveillance, the reliability requirements of this market are well-suited to the failover and recovery features offered by the Pivot3 portfolio."
