Seeing Schneider’s Vision

Schneider Electric’s U.S. team took the opportunity to share their vision for security in 2011 while also providing terms for energy management and technology at a press event in Chicago a week ago.

The vision, according to Lonnie Laue, director of the company’s Security Center for Excellence based in Dallas, is quite simple --  to be the one technology partner the end user can point to as a complete partner.

No finger pointing, fewer subcontractors and a company that can provide lower cost on capital project development.

“Schneider has a history of energy management,” Laue said. “Our customers who are familiar with our Continuum product in energy management now find this same tool useful in deploying security protocols.”

Continuum operates on the network, and works well because it is scalable and completely open to security applications. Laue is right when he said customers are looking for technology-savvy partnerships. These same customers also want to be partners with someone who understands the business-to-business game plan.

With Schneider’s background in HVAC and energy management, I wondered why they would be a good fit in security. I’m convinced and here’s why.

  1. They understand the complexity of HVAC and can transition into the security nicely.
  2. They already understand the interface of business-to-business.
  3. The terms of how to work with a system allows them a better understanding of how to administer the solution.
  4. They can show a potential customer a live system in use.

I very much enjoy getting up to speed on an integrator’s possibilities, and where they are headed in the security world. If you want to more about Schneider, I think you will find they work in the transportation market, wastewater and healthcare verticals.
