G4S Monitoring and Data Center Deploys Internal Training

G4S has established a training program developed by its North America Training Institute (NATI) for Video Monitoring Support and Data Center (VMSDC) Remote Guarding Certification, to ensure operators work in tandem with on-site security staff and local authorities.

All operators have completed the training and are required to do so as part of the company's continuing education program.

This certification testifies that these operators have achieved proficiency. Program courses cover areas of remote guarding such as basic duties of private security personnel, security interviewing techniques, the techniques of effective patrol, ethics in security, and conflict management, to name a few.

Completion of the program provides G4S operators the knowledge and skill to communicate and interact effectively and professionally with on-site guards and law enforcement. The training enables G4S to leverage the concept of technology and manned guarding by taking technically skilled personnel and giving them manned guarding skill sets.

“If the industry terminology for what we are doing is "remote guarding," what better way to do it than having the VMSDC staff trained to some degree as guards” said Jerry Cordasco, vice president of operations.

NATI was named one of three world-class corporate universities in Nathan Greeno's book, Corporate Learning Strategies, published by the American Society for Training and Development. NATI has also been recognized by the American Society for Training & Development with a 2009 BEST Award.

Quality training has been a key differentiator since the company's earliest days. G4S' security training programs are developed by the NATI trainers─who have post-graduate degrees and years of experience in the military and/or security industry.

G4S NATI was selected by the Smithsonian Institution to conduct a comprehensive training needs analysis, design five programs of instruction, and to train its 600-plus member in-house security staff in fundamental security duties and supervisory responsibilities over a five-year period.

  • A8V MIND

    A8V MIND

Hexagon’s Geosystems presents a portable version of its Accur8vision detection system. A rugged all-in-one solution, the A8V MIND (Mobile Intrusion Detection) is designed to provide flexible protection of critical outdoor infrastructure and objects. Hexagon’s Accur8vision is a volumetric detection system that employs LiDAR technology to safeguard entire areas. Whenever it detects movement in a specified zone, it automatically differentiates a threat from a nonthreat, and immediately notifies security staff if necessary. Person detection is carried out within a radius of 80 meters from this device. Connected remotely via a portable computer device, it enables remote surveillance and does not depend on security staff patrolling the area. 3
