HDcctv Alliance Unveils New Membership Structure

The HDcctv Alliance, the trade association for the global HDcctv industry, announced a new membership structure that makes it easier for companies to enter the fast-growing market for HDcctv-compliant products and upgrade from conventional CCTV technology.

The four alliance membership levels include: steering, manufacturing, marketing and affiliate. The membership benefits are summarized on the HDcctv Alliance website.

steering members are the visionary leaders charged with guiding the industry through its formative stages. The steering members determine what is in the standard and how the alliance communicates with the surveillance equipment market.

Manufacturing members are typically companies deeply involved in the design and manufacture of video surveillance equipment, and they contribute to defining the detailed specifications of the HDcctv standard. manufacturing and steering members have access to the detailed compliance certification test procedures, and manufacturing members may become authorized HDcctv compliance test centers.

The new marketing membership level provides a quick and easy way for branded distributors to display the HDcctv logos on compliant products by simply “inheriting” compliance from products that have been previously certified by manufacturing members. Compliance inheritance means that marketing members don’t need to deeply understand HDcctv technology or individually test products for compliance, thereby eliminating the technical effort associated with certifying compliance for products sourced from manufacturing members. Marketing membership makes HDcctv compliance affordable to a company of any size. “Manufacturing members and marketing members are naturally aligned to work together, each focusing on their core competencies, to bring solutions based on HDcctv-compliant products to market quickly and at competitive prices,” observed Todd Rockoff, executive director of HDcctv Alliance.

Marketing members are invited to participate alongside the manufacturing members and steering members in crafting the HDcctv industry’s market engagement, which includes the design and delivery of the HDcctv Certificate professional certification program. Marketing members also enjoy limited technical benefits, including early access to standard specifications before the general public.

The alliance has also redefined the affiliate membership level to provide opportunities for individual professionals to become involved with HDcctv technology and products. In addition to access to general information published on the Alliance website, affiliate members are qualified to earn HDcctv certificates through the alliance professional training program. Affiliate members also enjoy access to the detailed specifications of previously ratified versions of the HDcctv standard and receive special invitations and discounts to HDcctv events.

These structural changes make it easier for companies to choose a suitable level of membership, thereby encouraging growth of the alliance and accelerating worldwide adoption of the HDcctv standard in video surveillance equipment.
