IndigoVision Technology Helps Keep Watch Over ‘Walk In My Shoes’ Event

IndigoVision is a proud sponsor and IP Video provider for the 2011 ‘Walk in My Shoes’ event, which marks the second year for this walk across Florida.

Led by Lauren Book and the Lauren's Kids Foundation, the Walk raises awareness about sexual abuse and urges those who have been abused to speak up, because “it's always okay to tell.”

The 39-day, 1,000-mile journey kicked off in Key West on Saturday, March 19 and will end on Tuesday, April 26 on the steps of the historic Capitol in Tallahassee for the Lauren's Kids ‘Rally in Tally’ at noon. The Rally includes the final mile, Lauren's call to action and memories from the Walk, and statements from state and local leaders.

IndigoVision has provided one of its 9000 fixed IP cameras, which has been installed on the event tour bus that is following the participants of the walk as they make their journey across Florida. The IP camera is delivering live video via the 3G cellular network to an Internet Streaming Server (ISS) hosted and installed by KB Technologies, another sponsor of the event. The video is then streamed from the server to the website, http://www.laurenskids.org, where visitors can click on the live video link and view the event as it happens.

IndigoVision’s H.264 compression technology allows 30fps CIF resolution high-quality video to be streamed across the cellular network. The 9000 IP camera is connected directly to 3G modem and firewall on the bus.

The video is then transmitted at 128Kbs via a VPN to the ISS at KB Technologies, who also installed the system on the bus. Last year’s event attracted over 1000 viewers at any one time to the site, so a reliable, high-quality video stream is important for the success of this year’s event, which is hoped, will be even more watched.

“IndigoVision enables communities to run smarter through technology, but we also strive to help reinforce the fabric that strengthens them,” said Kevin Bradley, IndigoVision’s president -- North America. “Being part of events such as ‘Walk In My Shoes’ and last year's Santa Monica Marathon, simply reinforces our dedication and commitment to these efforts.”
