Kicking off in Fine Fashion

Other than a brief stopover in Frankfurt years ago, this is my first trip to Germany, and is my first exposure to Security Essen. The global tradeshow kicked off last night in fine fashion with a few self-indulgent pats on the back for creating a nice tradeshow, and getting everyone here without incident.

The show is well underway, with streams of attendees streaming into the facility. In tradeshow parlance, the halls are filled to the brim and exhibitors should be pleased with the number of attendees.

One of the overriding themes here in Essen, Germany, is that the security sector needs qualified specialists. Because of the need for workers in the security industry, Sept. 25 has been set aside for a training and education day, offering diverse information about occupational perspectives in the security industry and individual careers.

“Our global Security Essen fair offers an outstanding platform in order to obtain information about the occupational possibilities available in this exciting sector,” said Frank Thorwirth, chairman and CEO of Messe Essen. “We are glad that we were able to win over a large number of high-ranking cooperative partners for the training and education day.”

Security Essen boasts 1,086 exhibitors from 40 nations. The doors are open and I’m anxious to see what this show has in store. I’ve met with our friends from Arecont Vision, and look forward to reporting back to you what each day brings.
