Window Genie Installs Privacy Window Film Adding to Increased Security EffortsWindow film proves to be an incredibly versatile product. Typically installed in homes to reduce glare, reduce HVAC energy usage and save money on utility bills, window film may also be used for decorative purposes or for privacy and security.

Window Genie of Fort Worth recently installed privacy/security film on the windows of a local school. The school asked to remain anonymous to avoid unwanted attention over the matter.

After the tragedy in Newtown, CT at Sandy Hook Elementary School, the local Fort Worth school looked for ways to increase security and safety precautions. One side of the school has a long row of windows looking onto a public sidewalk and road. To decrease visibility into the building, they asked Chuck Street at Window Genie to install film that would help increase privacy and security.

Privacy/security film works to darken the exterior of the window, while maintaining a clear, improved view from the inside. Especially during the day, outsiders will be unable to see if children are in the rooms that look onto the public sidewalk and street. Having security film applied to a home or business' window also increases the strength of the glass, making it much more difficult to break. In the rare case that a window does break, window film creates a bond to the window that will work like a car windshield. Shards of glass are held together, which will reduce the risk of injury in the rare case a window is broken by an intruder or extreme weather.

Chuck Street, owner of Window Genie in Fort Worth, Texas said, "They contacted me shortly after the Sandy Hook School shooting with concerns about the visibility of the students in the cafeteria. The cafeteria windows are about 15 feet from the sidewalk and 30 feet from the street. The SYLRDS 10 window film will greatly reduce the visibility from the sidewalk and street during school hours. Passersby will not be able to merely look into the cafeteria and see the students eating lunch or participating in some other school function. I'm glad we were able to contribute to this school's recent increased security efforts. I think it'll make a big difference."
