New SAFE CIV Solution from Quantum Secure Improves Security and Compliance

New SAFE CIV Solution from Quantum Secure Improves Security and ComplianceQuantum Secure, a provider of enterprise software to manage and streamline security identities, compliance and events across disparate physical security access systems, is introducing their new "SAFE for CIV" software solution at ISC West this year. SAFE for CIV closes the physical identity management gap between PIV and non-PIV badge holders for government agencies, creating one centralized system to manage all identities, providing significant cost savings while maintaining the high-security standards of PIV cards.

“With PIV, PIV-I and non-PIV credentialed personnel on-site, government agencies must typically manage disparate credentialing systems for both physical and logical access,” said Ajay Jain, president and CEO, Quantum Secure. “SAFE for CIV leverages PIV-I credential standards without the requirement for cross-certification with the federal bridge, making it faster, easier and less costly for any government agency to locally issue compatible smart cards (CIV cards) for visitors, temporary workers, contractors and others who are ineligible for PIV cards.”

Quantum Secure’s SAFE for CIV software solution enables users to manage the entire lifecycle of CIV cards, cardholders and associated PKI certificates with detailed audit and reporting. The software includes the following features:

  • Centralized on-boarding/off-boarding for all temporary personnel that need physical and/or logical access using standardized credentials, such as CIV cards;
  • Automatic identity vetting for all personnel on-boarded for CIV cards;
  • Generation of user credential certificates through an integrated Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and its underlying Certificate Authority (CA);
  • Creation and issuance of CIV smart cards by programming digital identities and one or more PKI certificates onto cards;
  • Central management of issued CIV cards and their attributes with policies for suspension/revocation;
  • Automatic provisioning of the CIV card and associated identity into physical security systems and logical directory systems;
  • Built-in reports on CIV cardholder population, card details and their status; and
  • Support for the credential specification.

SAFE for CIV Credential is part of the complete physical identity and access management (PIAM) suite from Quantum Secure. SAFE PIAM Suite allows organizations to centrally manage all types of identities and their physical access, including PIV, PIV-I, CIV and other cardholders and visitors. SAFE PIAM includes pre-defined policies for automating user provisioning and privilege management across disparate PACS based on multiple conditions like user role, cardholder type, location, etc. As a result, security practitioners can gain maximum control over their identity population, understand who is accessing what area and why, minimize risks and ensure compliance with internal and external policies.

  • Gaining a Competitive Edge

    Ask most companies about their future technology plans and the answers will most likely include AI. Then ask how they plan to deploy it, and that is where the responses may start to vary. Every company has unique surveillance requirements that are based on market focus, scale, scope, risk tolerance, geographic area and, of course, budget. Those factors all play a role in deciding how to configure a surveillance system, and how to effectively implement technologies like AI. Read Now

  • 6 Ways Security Awareness Training Empowers Human Risk Management

    Organizations are realizing that their greatest vulnerability often comes from within – their own people. Human error remains a significant factor in cybersecurity breaches, making it imperative for organizations to address human risk effectively. As a result, security awareness training (SAT) has emerged as a cornerstone in this endeavor because it offers a multifaceted approach to managing human risk. Read Now

  • The Stage is Set

    The security industry spans the entire globe, with manufacturers, developers and suppliers on every continent (well, almost—sorry, Antarctica). That means when regulations pop up in one area, they often have a ripple effect that impacts the entire supply chain. Recent data privacy regulations like GDPR in Europe and CPRA in California made waves when they first went into effect, forcing businesses to change the way they approach data collection and storage to continue operating in those markets. Even highly specific regulations like the U.S.’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) can have international reverberations – and this growing volume of legislation has continued to affect global supply chains in a variety of different ways. Hexagon’s Geosystems presents a portable version of its Accur8vision detection system. A rugged all-in-one solution, the A8V MIND (Mobile Intrusion Detection) is designed to provide flexible protection of critical outdoor infrastructure and objects. Hexagon’s Accur8vision is a volumetric detection system that employs LiDAR technology to safeguard entire areas. Whenever it detects movement in a specified zone, it automatically differentiates a threat from a nonthreat, and immediately notifies security staff if necessary. Person detection is carried out within a radius of 80 meters from this device. Connected remotely via a portable computer device, it enables remote surveillance and does not depend on security staff patrolling the area. 3
