Two Explosions at Bostom Marathon Leads to Injuries

The Sun Rises on Boston after Horrific Explosions at Boston Marathon

The sun has risen on day two of the horrible Boston Marathon explosions. Abandoned backpacks, bags, and other running gear left behind by runners and spectators litter the area of the finish line.

The investigation has been aided by numerous people, who are potential witnesses, as well as the extensive amount of professional and spectator videos being shot; however, as of early this morning, Tuesday, April 16, 2013, authorities have not taken anyone into custody. One of the main goals of the investigation is to determine if the attacks were foreign or domestic.

The FBI has taken over the investigation to determine the responsible party or parties of the Boston marathon explosions. It has been reported that a search warrant has been served on a home in Revere, a suburb of Boston and this morning investigators were seen leaving the home carrying brown paper bags, plastic trash bags and a duffel bag.

Updates – From Early Morning to Present

Nicholas Kristof of The New York Times tweeted, “At Boston airport, official is asking every person in security line if they have photos from scene.” (I think this is a very proactive way to assist the investigation.)

Investigation: officials have labeled the investigation as “active and fluid.”

Bombs: no specifics about the bombs, where they might have been hidden or if they were packed with shrapnel for maximum carnage; however, an emergency room doctor at Beth Isreal Deaconess Medical Center said he was an X-ray of a victim’s leg that appeared to have small, uniform, round objects throughout, similar in appearance to BBs. The objects have not been identified.

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick clarifies that two and only two explosive devices were involved in the Boston Marathon explosions.

At 10:02am ET, FBI Special Agent in Charge, Rick DesLauiers, confirmed that there are “no known additional threats.” He also told reporters that he is “not going to say who might or might not be in custody right now.”

At 10:10am ET, Boston Police Chief, Ed Davis, updated the number of people injured: 176 casualties in hospitals.
