Mission 500 Seeking Nominees for 2015 Awards

Mission 500, a non-profit initiative focusing on the security industry and dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis, is seeking applicants for both their 2015 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award and their 2015 Humanitarian Award. The Awards will be presented at a special cocktail reception on April 16th, 2015 during ISC West in Las Vegas.

The Mission 500 CSR Award honors a company in the security industry that has made a significant contribution to those in need. The judging criteria includes an assessment of applicants’ CSR programs as they relate to effectiveness in helping the communities they focus on, involvement of company personnel, sustainability and long term impact of the programs and activities that go beyond financial contributions.

Any company in the security industry may be nominated. A judging panel evaluates applicants according to the criteria and applicants’ contributions toward social causes. In 2014, the CSR Award was given to Protection 1 for their unique community involvement program, which combines their national presence with local efforts. Each Protection 1 location is encouraged to contribute to their community in a manner of their choosing. At the same time, Protection 1 hosts national events to help energize these efforts.

During ISC West, Mission 500 will also present its Humanitarian Award, which recognizes individuals in the security industry who have made important contributions to those in need. The 2014 recipient was Charles 'Dom' D'Ascoli, an industry veteran who is also past president of ESA and currently serves on their Executive Committee

“Without the generous contributions of time and effort from others, it would be impossible for Mission 500 to do the work that we do to help children in need,” said George Fletcher, advisory board member and Mission 500 volunteer. “It brings us great joy to shine a light on the many humanitarians and caring individuals and companies in this industry.”

Entry forms must be completed and submitted by February 27th, 2015. Forms can be obtained by emailing George Fletcher at [email protected].

Mission 500 is also hosting its fifth 5K/2K charity run at ISC West on April 16, 2015. Runners can register for the race on-site at the Mission 500 booth at ISC West, or online. A nominal entry fee of $30 will go directly to the charity’s activities.

The Security 5K/2K is a joint collaboration organized by United Publications, publishers of Security Systems News and Security Director News; Reed Exhibitions/ISC Expos, and Mission 500. Charter sponsors are Alarm.com, Altronix Corporation, Axis Communications, Brivo, COPS Monitoring, DMP, DVTEL, Freeman, Galaxy Control Systems, HID, Honeywell, LRG Marketing Communications, Monitronics, Pelco by Schneider Electric, Qolsys, RBH Access Technologies, Samsung, Safety Technology International, Inc., and ScanSource.
