A New Training Platform

Over the course of the next three days, you will see, handle and feel many new products. You'll also see many products that have gone through successful upgrades. Where does a person learn how to implement new products and innovations?

Without exception, training plays a key role in acquiring the necessary education to work on and install new stuff.

Our sister brand, Security Today has announced the launch of a new online training platform for the security industry on April 15th at ISC West: Security Today Academy.

Security-today.com, the site that brings security professionals breaking news, product information, and industry insights now offers online security training. As more jobs are requiring and going to those with certifications, Security Today Academy provides those needed training and CEUs. The platform allows access to more than 125 courses.

"Security training and education is a natural offering for our Security Today brand and a logical extension of our portfolios service to the security market," said Kevin O'Grady, president & group publisher of 1105 Media's Security, Safety and Health Group. "Security professionals have trusted Security Products and Security-Today.com for years to provide important industry information. We are excited to add Security Today Academy to our portfolio of products."

Throughout the course of my travels, and visiting the many booths here at ISC West, the topic of training always surfaces. I'm very pleased that we have started this project to help security installers/integrators get the latest information.

Here are a couple of must visits you should take time for. Orion Entrance Control is at ISC West for the first time. They are showing their Optical Barrier Swing Glass, High Glass entry system, along with their Slim Line Pure Optical. Open Options is highlighting their DNA Fusion v6.2.3 and its supporting applications built on an open architecture foundation. Razberi Technologies will be showing their plug-and-play network recorders, IP cameras and installation tools, and Vitek will be demonstrating On Cue, a high-definition recorder with real time NVR. They also will be introducing Alpha, their newest IP camera.

It is a good time to be in the security industry. There are many more products and examples to see. I hope your three days at the tradeshow will offer a wider knowledge base and a profitable experience.

  • Nothing Artificial About this Intelligence

I have been looking forward to this year’s GSX show in New Orleans, the Cresent City, or if you prefer The Big Easy. It seems like quite a while since we’ve been here. Twenty years ago, ASIS, as it was known then was literally washed out of the city by someone known as Katrina. It is a good thing to come back to NOLA. Read Now

  • From Monitors to Mission Control

Security Operations Centers (SOC) were once defined by rows of static monitors, each displaying a single feed with operators quietly watching for issues. That model has become obsolete. • HD2055 Modular Barricade

Delta Scientific’s electric HD2055 modular shallow foundation barricade is tested to ASTM M50/P1 with negative penetration from the vehicle upon impact. With a shallow foundation of only 24 inches, the HD2055 can be installed without worrying about buried power lines and other below grade obstructions. The modular make-up of the barrier also allows you to cover wider roadways by adding additional modules to the system. The HD2055 boasts an Emergency Fast Operation of 1.5 seconds giving the guard ample time to deploy under a high threat situation.
