It's Tradeshow Season

It has been a couple of years since traveling to Mexico City and Expo de Seguridad. It seems the city has changed a little bit, though I do have some nervous anticipations being here. I'm not sure why after looking at the news from Baltimore.

Expo de Seguridad is a fabulous tradeshow. It starts late in the day, 2 p.m., which I presume is so locals can work in the morning then attend the show in the afternoon and evening at the Banamex Center. And tonight there is an Excellence Awards and Gala Dinner. Net proceeds of ticket sales benefit Mission 500 charity.

Andrea Ferrando, show director, does an amazing job putting all this together, and she and her team should be commended for their hard work and dedication to the security industry.

I'm looking forward to meeting with some of our U.S. partners: Alan Forman, Altronix; Tom Galvin, Razberi Technologies; and Domingo Martinez, Video Insight. I'm sure there are others and I hope to speak to them about their efforts in Mexico City and Latin America.

I am scheduled to have an interview today with Lucy Reviro, Inalarm. I will be anxious to share with you her take on security in Mexico City and how she is able to successfully distribute product to the many installers in a city with more than 8 million people. I also will have an extended story in our July issue of Dealer Strategies.

Security Products magazine is attending to increase our own visibility in the Mexican and Latin American markets; soon to release our Securidad Americanos e-newsletter. This monthly publication will go to those people in country and in the region involved in the security industry and will be published in Spanish. We feel this region is booming and hungry for the latest news and product updates in the industry. Along with our ever constant e-news editor Brent Dirks, Ginger Hill and I will be reporting in Spanish.
