Honeywell Enterprise Buildings Integrator Boosts Capabilities

Honeywell announced updates to its flagship building management system, Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI), that will help security and facility personnel streamline and improve visitor management and access control.

The updates enable tight coordination and easier integration with technologies from HID, SALTO and SARGENT, tying industry-leading products into a common user interface. Users will benefit from a consistent look and feel through EBI, which will help them manage safety and security operations more efficiently.

The products that are now part of the EBI architecture:

  • HID Global EasyLobby Visitor Management Solutions – A feature-rich visitor management system that supports self-registration for fast visitor processing. EasyLobby is also capable of screening visitors against government watch lists, procuring their identification through various document scanners and issuing temporary access cards. Backed by EBI’s enterprise-class access control, EasyLobby makes visitor management more professional while enhancing data analysis and building security.
  • SALTO Electronic Locks – A family of autonomous electronic locks, wirelessly connected or offline, that are ideal for securing access to non-critical doors in a facility, typically at lower installation costs. SALTO solutions use highly flexible and efficient data-on-card technology and can complement other online access systems supported by EBI for mixed-mode security configurations. Building operators can manage SALTO electronic locks and other access systems through the same interface, reducing complexity and training needs.

IP-enabled electronic locks from SARGENT will also connect into EBI to provide customers more hardware options for securing their facility. The interface to SARGENT products is expected to be available by fall 2015.

“Effective facility security requires more than a one-size-fits-all solution. Organizations need flexibility to choose different technologies to ensure their overall system meets their particular security needs,” said John Rajchert, president of Honeywell Building Solutions. “And integrating these technologies is equally important. This allows security and facility personnel to manage critical systems from a single interface — to see what is happening across their organization and address potential events before they impact operations.”

Honeywell EBI is an award-winning building management system that facilitates the integration of security, comfort, life safety and energy control, among other functions. It gives users one point of access and a consistent view to information and resources that enhance the ability to monitor, manage and protect a facility, campus or multi-site operation.

In addition, EBI communicates with industry-leading open protocols like BACNet, OPC and LonWorks, which helps customers integrate with third-party software and hardware, and benefit from the scalability and flexibility that come with an interoperable architecture.

More than 20,000 EBI systems have been deployed in more than 160 countries over the last decade. Current customers can easily migrate to the latest release, providing them with the new functionality, as well as continued returns on their investment.
