Genetec Expands Support for Body Wearable Cameras in Latest Release of Security Center
Genetec, a manufacturer of open platform, unified IP security solutions announced that the latest version of Security Center (5.3 SR1), the company's unified security platform, now supports the import and archiving of video content recorded from a variety of body wearable cameras, including B-CAM, GoPro, Vievue and Zepcam. Law enforcement, public safety agencies, and security departments will now be able to easily complement their existing surveillance operations with wearable cameras, and centralize all archives and evidence within a single video management platform.
By integrating body worn cameras as part of their security strategy, organizations can gain greater awareness and accountability of events in the field, while leveraging their existing IT infrastructure and Security Center to manage archives, retention policies, and access privileges. Organizations can import recorded video and audio in standard formats, including MP4 and MOV which are used by many body wearable cameras, and index them natively within Security Center, allowing operators to easily review and manage video footage taken outside of a traditional “connected” surveillance system.
In addition to the ability to import offline video recorded on body wearable cameras, Security Center also enables officers and security personnel to stream live video over a cellular or wireless network, from ZEPCAM devices, or from their smartphone using Security Center Mobile to provide a real-time view of events in the field.
By leveraging Security Center as a common platform to manage all fixed, mobile and wearable devices, organizations can lower their investment in IT infrastructure and reduce the maintenance of disparate software systems. Investigation and case fillings are also simplified, with the ability for operators to access all video archives and evidence in Security Center, and cross-reference footage from CCTV and body worn cameras when investigating incidents.
"We see a growing number of law enforcement agencies and security departments integrating the use body wearable cameras to extend their surveillance operations,” said Jimmy Palatsoukas, senior product marketing manager, Genetec, Inc. “Thanks to the open architecture in Genetec Security Center, we are continually expanding our ecosystem of camera partners to provide our customers access to leading solutions. Law enforcement agencies, public safety, and corporate organizations can select their preferred body wearable technology, while continuing to leverage Genetec as their unified security platform to store and manage all video—regardless of how it was captured.”
Genetec will demonstrate this new capability at IFSEC 2015 in London (June 16th-18th, 2015) in Stand F550, and Security Center 5.3 SR1, is expected to be available to Genetec Channel Partners and customers in June 2015.
