Fort Bend County Texas Chooses 3xLOGIC to Unify Access Control

3xLogic, Inc. announced that Fort Bend, Texas has begun to roll out infinias Intelli-M access control, by 3xLogic, to over 30 different buildings and facilities throughout the county according to a news release. Digital Air Control is the integrator and installer for this on-going project.

“Right now, we’ve got 800 to 900 doors and gates on two different systems,” Justin Zwahr, Facilities Maintenance Manager, said. “We are looking to install one integrated system that we can scale upwards to 1500 doors, because we’re getting requests to add doors to the system all the time.”

The county has a total of 186 buildings and access control is installed at over 30 of the more important sites – the jail, Justice Centr, fuel depots, two cell towers and others.

“In addition to unifying all our access under one system, we were looking for an easy-to-maintain IP solution and one were we aren’t being nickeled and dimed all the time,” Kevin Bulman, Facilities Lead Electronics Technician for the county, said in the release. “We want to get away from keys as much as possible; we are also looking for a system that isn’t proprietary because we want to work on it ourselves. With the infinias Intelli-M system, we have all of that.”

Fort Bend has about 10 locations on the new system so far and work continues to install needed network infrastructure to accommodate the IP-based solution. Under the old systems, each main location did their own administration. Bulman and Zwahr intend to simplify the number of administrators and move to more central management as time goes on.

Plans call for a full system turnover to the IP-based infinias IntelliiM access control solution by mid-year 2016.
