Expect Tight Security at Super Bowl City This Year

With just under two weeks until the big Super Bowl 50 game, security is already at an all-time high. Visitors to Super Bowl City in downtown San Francisco, which opens up on Jan. 30 and runs through the Super Bowl game on Sunday, Feb. 7, can expect to go through a lot of security.

Visitors will have to go through metal detectors and will be required to have their bags checked. There will be armed security guards, law enforcement both in uniform and plainclothes, a variety of security cameras set up around the area as well as private security officers and private security cameras located around the downtown area.

Former FBI special agent Jeffery Harp, now a security analyst, is no stranger to big events and their security challenges. Harp believes that there types of events are a “lure and a draw” to those wanting to create chaos.

After attacks such as those in Paris, San Bernardino and Boston, Harp says more people might be thinking about what could happen at the large event.

Super Bowl City will be fenced off and long lines are expected to form at its four security gets for not only hundreds of thousands of visitors, but also just for anyone trying to get around downtown.
