OnSSI's Ocularis 5 Provides Even Greater Stability, New Integrations, and More

Building on the proven reputation and reliability of its Ocularis Video Management Software (VMS), OnSSI's latest enhancements to Ocularis provides even greater stability, more robust security, new integrations and innovative features.

"Ocularis is already an advanced VMS solution in the professional security industry, and with new enhancements in stability, security and versatility, this latest version of Ocularis will continue to build on its reputation," said Ken LaMarca, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, OnSSI. "In addition to software innovations, we continue to add to our core Ocularis platform with new technology partnerships and new products from our existing partners, enabling us to offer additional features and capabilities beyond typical VMS applications."

Recognizing the critical need to keep VMS software up to date, Ocularis 5 includes an auto-updating feature like those available on most smartphones and tablets to ensure users are running the most current – and most secure – version. This provides users with peace of mind while saving dealers and integrators time that otherwise might be spent going on-site to perform a software update.

Smart Camera Driver technology provides out-of-the-box support for newly introduced cameras from many top camera manufacturers without requiring users to wait for manufacturers to write and release specific drivers, allowing customers to immediately take advantage of the newest, most advanced camera features. Additionally, Smart Camera Drivers support generic RTSP and MPEG drivers, as well as ONVIF and ONVIF Profile S.

Ocularis operators can utilize either 32-bit or 64-bit applications for Ocularis Client, Administrator, Event Proxy and Base. This allows operators to take full advantage of their systems' resources when streaming video for better performance. Administrators can also view multiple streams from a camera. A default stream can be configured to accommodate operators with limited bandwidth or resources. The default stream can be set to low resolution to display from a camera when it first appears in a View, Map or Video Wall. This allows users to view the video faster and have the choice to view the high-resolution streams when necessary. When users create maps, they can now share those maps with other user groups. This Shared Maps option enables more efficient communication and significant time savings.

Also new in Ocularis 5 is support for Pelco Optera multi-sensor cameras. Ocularis users can view multiple immersive PTZ views with simultaneous Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) and low-light performance seamlessly through the VMS and obtain panoramic and multiple immersive views.

For customers on the move, an Ocularis Mobile app for iOS and Android phones and tablets will be available in the Fall of 2016 and will allow users to stream live video and transfer it directly to Ocularis using their smartphones and tablets. Other supported features of both Ocularis Mobile and Web – which supports all major browsers – include system alerts when a meaningful event occurs, the ability to manipulate PTZ cameras, and the capability to view live and recorded video on even 3G and 4G networks. This next generation of Ocularis Web includes underlying technology for easier installation, providing operators with the ability to view any layout of up to 16 panes, utilizing digital zoom, and supporting device state detection and Windows 10.

Ocularis 5 is offered in three models: Professional, designed for organizations operating multiple locations with small to mid-sized camera counts; Enterprise, built for a wide range of mid to large IT-centric organizations; and Ultimate, created for large organizations with extended command and control needs and recording server failover.

Throughout the ASIS show, OnSSI will host a series of presentations at their booth (#2151) to provide attendees with greater understanding about security, how Ocularis can save them money, and decrease cyber risk while increasing security and peace of mind.
