CEIA USA Launches Enhanced Security Screening Systems

New OPENGATE 2.0 and SAMD systems aim to eliminate checkpoint bottlenecks in schools, healthcare facilities, and public venues.

CEIA USA has announced the commercial availability of two new security screening solutions designed to increase throughput while maintaining high threat detection standards. The release of the OPENGATE 2.0 walk-through system and the SAMD (Shoe Analyzer Metal Detector) addresses the growing need for efficient weapons detection in high-traffic environments.

The OPENGATE 2.0 is an evolution of the company’s portable screening technology, utilizing multi-caliber detection capabilities to identify threats without requiring visitors to divest bags, backpacks, or purses. The system is designed for rapid deployment, weighing 25 pounds and requiring less than a minute for setup.

“Security checkpoints have long been synonymous with operational inefficiency,” said Luca Cacioli, CEO of CEIA USA. “OPENGATE 2.0 takes our original model to the next level. With minimized divesting requirements, it delivers the highest throughput rates in the industry while achieving lower-than-ever nuisance alarm rates.”

The updated system includes integrated LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity for fleet management and remote monitoring. It also complies with ASTM F3566-22 standard security levels, ensuring the technology meets recognized international and federal safety regulations.

Complementing the walk-through detector is the SAMD system, which specifically targets the challenge of footwear screening. In high-security environments, such as manufacturing plants or warehouses, steel-toe boots and shoe construction materials often trigger false alarms. The SAMD uses advanced algorithms to differentiate between benign metal components and concealed weapons, reducing the need for secondary inspections.

“The shoe screening challenge has frustrated security professionals for years,” Cacioli said. “SAMD’s intelligent discrimination technology solves this problem by automatically detecting concealed weapons while filtering out harmless shoe construction materials.”

Both systems are engineered for indoor and outdoor use. The technology is currently being deployed across several sectors, including sports entertainment, corporate campuses, and educational facilities, where maintaining a non-intrusive flow of people is a primary operational goal.
