Rhombus Launches Autonomous Mobile Security Platform

New robotics integration allows organizations to dispatch autonomous patrols and investigate security gaps beyond fixed camera views.

Rhombus has announced the launch of Rhombus Recon, an autonomous physical security solution designed to integrate mobile robotics with cloud-managed surveillance.

The platform aims to eliminate blind spots inherent in traditional security setups. By connecting with a broader ecosystem of AI cameras, sensors, and access control, Recon allows users to dispatch robots automatically or manually to investigate specific incidents or conduct routine patrols.

"With Rhombus Recon, we aim to give every organization the equivalent of an extra person that is available 24/7 to be an extra set of eyes and ears," said Brandon Salzberg, CTO at Rhombus. "Leveraging AI and LLMs, these robots can complete complex assignments, and we view them becoming an essential part of the operations of most companies."

The system utilizes artificial intelligence to trigger specific actions based on visual data. In a retail or industrial setting, the platform can be programmed to check inventory levels, monitor facility cleanliness, or identify unauthorized personnel. When an anomaly is detected by a fixed camera, the system can dispatch a robot to the scene to stream live video to operators and trigger deterrents through integrated alarm monitoring.

The platform is designed to be hardware-agnostic, supporting robotic form factors from manufacturers such as Boston Dynamics and Unitree. This flexibility allows facilities teams to program scheduled routes through complex environments like manufacturing plants, construction sites and logistics yards, where installing permanent cabling is difficult or expensive.

As the security industry grapples with labor shortages, Rhombus positioned the tool as a way to augment human teams. The software provides centralized fleet management, allowing security personnel to monitor and control multiple units across various locations from a single console.

The company will demonstrate an early version of the platform at ISC West in Las Vegas from March 23–27.
