The Physical Security Interoperability Alliance (PSIA), an industry organization created to define, recommend and promote standards for IP-enabled security devices and systems, announced recently that its 1.0 IP Media Device API specification has been ratified by the organization and released for public use.
EVT, a developer of networked video management and recording software, recently announced that ElbitSec, a subsidiary of Elbit group, has deployed the Vertex Video management and NVR software suite for its border protection project around the city of Jerusalem. The installation marks the first defense deployment of EVT’s software.
IQinVision recently announced that upwards to 20 downtown Rotterdam shops, in the Netherlands, have deployed IQeye megapixel cameras to combat store robberies.
All in all, GovSec 2009 was a smashing success. Tradeshow organizers from the 1105 Government Information Group put together an incredible show for both GovSec and FOSE. Security Products magazine was equally successful in planning and coordinating our first ever IP Summit. We look forward to hosting another event in 2010.

IP-CCTV systems are not just a cheaper and more flexible alternative to traditional analog systems— they have opened up new opportunities for security that are simply not possible with the old technology. They are changing the way the security industry implements CCTV surveillance and have spawned a new concept—mega video solutions.

Proxim Wireless Corp., a provider of end-to-end broadband wireless systems recently announced that it has provided the wireless backhaul for Turkey's largest video surveillance network in the port city of Bodrum.

The Department of Defense is rolling out more than 350 of Sony’s latest-generation 1.3 megapixel high-resolution network security cameras to its facilities worldwide. According to Strategic Solutions Unlimited (SSU), a security systems integrator based in Fayetteville, N.C., the Department of Defense is in the second phase of its camera deployment, adding 300 units to the 50 cameras initially installed in 2008.
