Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission Deploys DVTel iSOC

DVTel Inc., provider of intelligent security solutions over IP networks, recently announced that the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission has selected the DVTel intelligent Security Operations Center as the command and control software for an advanced, highly integrated surveillance and detection system to provide early warning for the protection of the commission’s extensive assets.

The DRJTBC is a bi-state transportation agency that owns, operates, and maintains 20 vehicular and pedestrian bridges along 140 miles of the Delaware River between Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  More than 140 million vehicles crossed the commission’s bridges in 2008.

DVTel, Mass Electric Construction Co., Siemens Industry and MATE have teamed up to design, furnish, construct, install, integrate and maintain a fully operational electronic surveillance and detection system that will include video surveillance, intelligent video, building access control, intrusion detection, a central control center and communications systems for video and data transmissions.

The multi-faceted system sends real-time alarms to help operators increase their awareness and response time to incidents that can cause traffic congestion or endanger public safety in support of the commission’s efforts of security and surveillance.

The project is being installed in two phases and will eventually comprise over 300 cameras and 50 access points with all data monitored in two separate command centers.  Siemens serves as the project integrator and Mass Electric is the prime contractor for the overall project.

DVTel was selected for the central command and control function because of its successful track record in safeguarding critical infrastructure, and for the open-platform attributes of the DVTel solution, which is easily and effectively integrated with Siemens SiPass access control system and MATE’s advanced video content analysis.

MATE’s Behavior Watch solution will help to improve the Commission’s ability to respond to accidents and other incidents at its bridges, buildings, and other structures.  MATE’s intelligent video system is completely integrated with DVTel’s iSOC to provide a “single seat” of operation for the commission.
