PwC Joins Cloud Security Alliance

PwC has joined the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) as a corporate member. The CSA is a coalition of industry practitioners, corporations, associations and other key stakeholders who promote the use of leading practices for providing security assurance within cloud computing. PwC will host the inaugural meeting of the CSA's NY Metro Chapter on May 17, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the firm's office on 300 Madison Avenue.

PwC's membership in the CSA supports the firm's leadership in helping organizations leverage cloud computing, particularly in the critical area of helping to assure the security of cloud services. As organizations move to the cloud to meet increased demands for greater agility, deliver solutions at faster speeds and reduce costs, PwC is committed to devising innovative enterprise-wide cloud strategies for its clients.

"Not only do we want to continue leading the industry, but PwC wants to be involved with educating stakeholders on the most important issues and opportunities within the cloud," said Cara Beston, risk assurance partner at PwC. "Given our extensive experience working with cloud users and technology providers on sensitive and complex issues around the cloud, like compliance and control issues around, security, availability, privacy, and regulatory oversight, we help companies benefit from cloud technologies in a controlled environment."

As a member of the CSA, PwC will help promote an understanding between consumers and providers of cloud computing regarding governance, risk and compliance methods for addressing controls audit and compliance issues. They also will promote independent research into leading practices for the cloud; launch awareness campaigns on the appropriate uses of cloud computing; and contribute to a consensus list of issues and guidance for cloud assurance.

"The CSA is thrilled to have PwC as a member of the alliance," said Jim Reavis, CSA executive director. "We believe their perspective on cloud computing will benefit the alliance and help drive the mission of our organization."
