Arecont Vision Expands Compact Megapixel Line with Five New Cameras

Arecont Vision has expanded its Compact MegaVideo line of box cameras from 10 models to 15, including a new 1.3-megapixel compact H.264 model (AV1115), a full HD1080p compact H.264 model (AV2115), a dual-mode 10-megapixel/1080p compact H.264 camera (AV10115), 3-megapixel H.264 (AV3115) and 5-megapixel H.264 (AV5115) compact cameras.

Like other models in the Compact MegaVideo line, the new cameras are less expensive, smaller (with 45 percent less depth dimension) and 33 percent lighter than previous models. The cameras are also easy to install and can fit into smaller housings. For example, the cameras can support 4.5- to 10-millimeter and 8- to 16-millimeter varifocal lenses and still fit inside a 4-inch dome housing.

Arecont Vision AV2115, the full HD1080p compact H.264 model, can also operate in the company’s new casino mode which ensures continuous full-motion recording at 30 fps to comply with gaming industry regulations. Casino mode guarantees that the frame rate will not dip below 30 fps by forcing automatic bit rate and exposure control to maintain specific predetermined settings.

“By continuing to develop our line of compact megapixel cameras, Arecont Vision is further expanding the use of these high performance imaging solutions for mainstream video surveillance applications,” said Dr. Michael Kaplinsky, CEO, Arecont Vision. “The attractive price points of Arecont Vision cameras make them cost competitive with standard VGA resolution cameras, and with this wider selection of models, users can benefit from much greater image resolution and functionality in a smaller, lower cost camera.”

An auto-iris lens is available at any resolution. Compression includes H.264 (MPEG-4, Part 10) and Motion JPEG with 21 levels of quality. Multi-streaming functionality (with eight non-identical streams) allows efficient use of bandwidth. Fast frame rates include 32 fps at 1080p, 14 fps at 5 megapixels and 7 fps at 10 megapixels. Arecont Vision's MegaVideo image processing is capable of performing 80 billion operations per second to simultaneously deliver full resolution and region of interest streams.

An on-camera privacy mask feature enables video to be blocked in multiple regions in almost any arbitrary shape. Extended motion detection provides a higher-granularity grid of 1,024 distinct motion detection zones. Forensic zooming allows close-up views of any region of interest, even on archived video.

The cameras are fully compatible with the PSIA industry standard and have passed PSIA conformance tests. Cameras can be powered by either PoE or 12 to 48 volts DC/AC power supplies.
