Inspired Access, Emergency Communications

Round two of ISC West has been a knock-out. Not a disappointed exhibitor, that I can see, and attendees who are getting the latest technology updates.

Perhaps the smallest megapixel camera in the world was unveiled today, and by the most unlikely source. Sentry360 announced its IS-IP14K, a 14-megapixel mini. The idea, according to Thomas Carnevale, president of the company, was to come to market with a simple, yet cost-effective high-performing camera for mass markets.

Their focus is on mass transit, education, industrial, gaming, retail, homeland security and critical infrastructure.

Salto opened yesterday’s expo with a press conference not so much about the company or its products, but company officials introduced an end user to the media. Princeton University’s Department of Life Safety and Security Systems announced the installation of Salto’s electronic security locks on campus dormitory rooms and suites.

This is no small undertaking. The project includes nearly 3,200 doors, and will likely include more doors at research facilities and academic buildings. Here is something that is very cool about the products, they come with antibacterial technology, which prohibits the spread of bacteria from one person to the next, who might be coming through the same door.

Silent Knight has introduced its Farenhyt fire protection and broadcasting system, which brings real-time communications within a facility. This mass notification system has a proven fire alarm technology and delivers intelligent communications over a supervised system that meets the latest NFPA, UL 2572 and Department of Defense standards.

The control panels include customizable switches for as many as 15 pre-recorded messages and a microphone for live paging. As many as seven remote command units can tie into a Farenhyt ECS, placed throughout a facility for live paging.

Today wraps up the most current version of ISC West. It has been an incredible show, and I’m sure there is more to come as all attendees and exhibitors get back home and sort through the myriads of contacts, questions and answers.
