Milestone Systems Sponsorship Brings NOBLE Honor

Milestone Systems, the open platform company in IP video management software (VMS), is sponsoring several events of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE). The first of these was the William R. Bracey Winter CEO Symposium, held in Baltimore, Maryland, at the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel February 21-23. This gathering provided law enforcement chief executive officers the opportunity to discuss critical and timely public safety issues facing America today and to share useful best practices.

At this symposium, Milestone Systems was presented with a commemoration of the company’s sponsorship of NOBLE. Other sponsors included Avrio RMS (an authorized Milestone partner), Anixter Inc. (a distributor of Milestone XProtect VMS), Sony Electronics and Axis Communications (whose network video cameras are supported by Milestone VMS), BRS Labs (whose video analytics are integrated with the Milestone open platform), Fluidmesh Networks (wireless technology), Aegis Industries and Hitachi Data Systems.

The mission statement of NOBLE is “to be recognized as a highly-competent public service organization that is at the forefront of providing solutions to law enforcement issues and concerns, as well as to the ever-changing needs of our communities.”

“One of our key goals as an organization is to promote and encourage attitudes and characteristics that permit adaptability to the growing demands placed on law enforcement, and the development of professional and communication competencies that help comprehend and shape appropriate responses to an ever-changing environment. Part of this is keeping up with the latest in technology available to assist us in our work,” said Joseph Akers, interim executive director of NOBLE.

Milestone Systems is a global provider of VMS operating over IP networks, including remote and mobile monitoring with central command control. Many police departments are satisfied Milestone customers, such as Beverly Hills, California; Brown County, Wisconsin; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Nassau County, New York; and Ottumwa, Iowa.

“Milestone Systems is pleased to have the opportunity to support the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives,” said City Surveillance & Critical Infrastructure Sales Manager at Milestone Systems, David King. “We understand the challenges faced by the officers in their daily mission to keep our world safe, and we support their needs with the Milestone video management solutions. Sponsoring these NOBLE events is an opportunity for us to get feedback on new challenges face-to-face.”

NOBLE will convene its 37th Annual Training Conference and Exhibition in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, August 3 – 7, 2013 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

NOBLE is a public service organization that is at the forefront of providing solutions to law enforcement issues and concerns, as well as to the changing needs of communities across the nation. They foster an emphasis on being competent by continuously learning from the collective knowledge of its members and other sources of criminal justice research and data, while simultaneously working to rapidly convert this learning into action.

NOBLE recommends and executes policies, processes and procedures that recognize and pursue goals common to all segments of the community and law enforcement with a focus on ensuring strict accountability and uncompromising integrity. The organization strives to unify black law enforcement officers at executive and command levels. They conduct research in relevant areas of law enforcement, establish liaisons with organizations with similar concerns, evaluate and recommend legislation relating to the criminal justice process, and create effective means and strategies for dealing with racism in the field of criminal justice. They also focus on developing communication techniques for sensitizing police executives, police officers, institutions and agencies in the criminal justice system to the problems of the black community, developing mechanisms to facilitate the exchange of information among black police executives.
