Welcome to Las Vegas

Good morning everyone. The first day of ISC West is well under way and throngs of people are roving through the aisles. It's a great sight to see and bodes well for tomorrow's economy.

Pre-show talk signals the this year's event will be loaded with technology upgrades and plenty of new products.

Here are a few things that I found interesting from emails received prior to today's opening.

Axis Communications is releasing an easy-to-use video management software with its Camera Station 4.0. The software is a complete video monitoring and recording solution designed to seamlessly match its extensive range of network cameras and video encoders. The software has the ability to investigate hours of HDTV-quality recording within seconds with extended smart search.

3xLogic is announcing the availability of "Beginner's Guide to Video Business Intelligence." With the ever growing amount of data being made available through sensors, cameras, time and attendance systems, access control devices and point of sale terminals, finding an efficient and effective way to distill all of this data into relevant, actionable information that can be easily understood and acted upon is the basis behind the guide.

HID Global is introducing the SlimFlex, part of its seal tag family of RFID industrial container tags. The tag provides a solution that can improve processes while creating a barrier to theft, and can withstand repeated bending or torsion, outdoor elements, impact and temperature extremes. The high visibility units enable assignment of a unique electronic identifier to each securely fastened container. Access to a sealed container's contents requires severing the cable tie or breaching of the container itself, either incursion providing clear evidence of tampering.

SecuraKey is launching its NOVA.16,which is a multi-reader access control panel. This new platform provides a major technology upgrade to the company's legacy SK-NET system. This product connects to the LAN and to a high-speed RS485 peripheral network consisting of up to 16 single-door smart readers, each containing all of the inputs and outputs to control and monitor a single door. I hope your first day at ISC West has been successful. I look forward to reporting on my finds during Day Two.
