Allegion Unveils Interoperable Access Solutions at ISC West

The security leader debuts mobile credential standards and cloud-based hardware to streamline building access and management.

Allegion US is showcasing new electronic access control technologies and software this week at ISC West, focusing on interoperability and seamless mobile integration.

The company is moving toward a holistic approach that combines hardware and software to solve modern security challenges. Mark Casey, vice president of national electronic sales at Allegion, said the industry now requires integrated experiences rather than standalone products to provide users with more flexibility and enhanced security.

A primary highlight of the exhibition is the Aliro 1.0 specification. This new communication standard aims to create an open environment where mobile devices and access control hardware from different manufacturers work together. By establishing a common credential, the standard ensures interoperability among certified smartphones, wearables, and readers.

Allegion is also demonstrating its expanded mobile credential portfolio. Using NFC technology, Schlage now offers digital keys in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, including employee badges and student IDs. These credentials allow users to access buildings using smartphones or smartwatches.

Among the new hardware on display is the Schlage XE360 series. These wireless locks feature a module that allows for either offline Bluetooth connectivity or real-time Wi-Fi connection. The system includes technology that can request lock status and send commands in seconds without requiring extra wiring.

For the commercial and multifamily markets, the company announced the rebranding of its Pure Access software to Zentra Edge. This platform is designed for small to medium businesses, offering cloud monitoring and audit reporting.

The company also introduced the LCN Senior Swing with AdaptivIQ, an automatic door operator that self-adjusts to external factors like wind or carpet drag to maintain consistent operation. Additionally, the Overtur cloud-based suite was highlighted for its ability to manage door hardware data throughout a building's lifecycle.

Beyond product launches, the event features research on school safety. The SIA is presenting an analysis of school-based active shooter events to evaluate how secured access points perform during real-world incidents.
