The SIA has named Nathan Wells, an account executive at Convergint, as the first recipient of its Valuing Experience, Talent and Service (VETS) Award.
The award, presented by SIA's Veterans in Security community, recognizes individuals who support military veterans in the security industry through recruitment, mentoring, career development and advocacy for transitions from military to civilian roles. SIA will present it to Wells at the organization's annual GovSummit conference May 20-21 in Washington, D.C.
Wells, a U.S. Navy veteran, has more than 20 years of experience leading security initiatives for clients in the utility, government and critical infrastructure sectors. He chairs Convergint Veterans Connect, which grew from 40 to more than 100 members in 18 months.
His efforts also include mentoring participants in Convergint’s College Development Program for early-career professionals; contributing more than 150 hours of volunteer service in 2025 for the veteran community; providing support at local Veterans Affairs health care facilities and assisted living centers; offering guidance to transitioning service members; and leading a nationwide Veterans Day campaign along with other veteran recognition initiatives.
The VETS Award is the first of its kind from SIA, a trade group for the security industry.
SIA GovSummit gathers government security leaders and private industry technologists for discussions on public policy and security technology affecting federal, state and local agencies.
