HID Soloinsight and CTS Launch Integrated Visitor Kiosk

New self-service kiosk combines document scanning and facial verification to strengthen identity assurance for enterprise facilities.

A new integrated self-service visitor kiosk combines hardware document authentication, facial recognition, and physical identity management software to secure high-risk facilities and corporate environments.

Developed through a collaboration between HID, Soloinsight, and Connected Technology Solutions, the system addresses common security gaps found in standard visitor check-in procedures. Traditional processes often rely on basic sign-in tablets or manual ID checks by staff, which can allow unverified individuals to receive access credentials.

The integrated kiosk incorporates the HID ATOM document reader and the HID U.ARE.U facial recognition module into Connected Technology Solutions' kiosk hardware, driven by Soloinsight's CloudGate platform. The setup allows security teams to automate visitor credentialing while maintaining digital audit trails for compliance.

When a visitor arrives, they scan a pre-registration QR code or present an identity document at the kiosk. The document reader scans drivers' licenses, passports and mobile IDs, verifying security features, embedded barcodes and RFID chips. The onboard facial recognition module then performs a liveness check to match the visitor's face against the photo on the authenticated ID document.

Once identity verification is complete, the platform logs the entry, prints a visitor pass and notifies the host. The software centralizes visitor records to support reporting and regulatory frameworks, including HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001.

The kiosk also integrates with existing physical access control systems, human resources databases and IT security platforms, allowing organizations to extend current credential infrastructure without replacing core hardware.
