ISC West is in the books, but hopefully you’re still reeling in sales leads and new contacts for products. That’s what ISC West is all about -- making new contacts and looking for new business.

The same goes for me. We’re always working diligently with our sales staff to visit new and potential clients. We’re always happy to visit with those advertisers that support and believe in our mission, as well.

One of my favorite visits was with staff from Fargo. That visit has become a yearly lunch experience. It’s an opportunity to talk about sales and future contributed articles. Fargo Electronics, now part of HID Global, recently announced that its HDP600 and HDP600-LC have been approved by the General Service Administration under the card printer station of the FIPS 201 approved products list. The certifications enable government agencies to use Fargo’s technology to comply with the FIPS 201 standard as mandated by HSPD-12.

I always know when ISC West if officially over because I and some of my contemporaries are treated to a tenacious dinner event hosted by Sanyo’s general manager Frank Abram. He’s sort of made this an annual affair as well.

At the end of the three days of tradeshow work, Frank makes the announcement prior to dinner that we’re gathering as friends and associates in the security industry.

It’s always an honor to dine with someone who really gets it. Of course we’re there to work, but living is about friendships and associations. It’s time to tip my battered printers’ cap to a true gentleman, Frank Abram.

Let’s talk about new products for a moment. There were hundreds available to see during the three days in Las Vegas. There isn’t space to talk about all of them, but here’s one that addresses the growing demand for identity credential deployment.

HID Global announced the launch of HIS Identity, a new organization offering a comprehensive set of solutions for the deployment of contact and contactless smart card-based identity credentials. Here’s how it will work. HID Global will create HID Identity by combining AccessID and Synercard.

The new organization will benefit end users by providing solutions and expertise that will streamline and simplify the acquisition and issuance of access control and multi-application credentials. HID Identity helps end users achieve an important identity management goal by issuing a single secure credential that links the enterprises’ diverse set of applications.

The merger of AccessID and Synercard becomes a highly focused HID Identity team with unique skills and abilities to help dealers and integrators provide end-to-end secure identity credential products and services.

ISC West is always filled to the brim with new exhibitors, so I wondered about the exhibitor who’s been there time and again. Was it worth it? Was it productive?

I think Mark has it as well. The increased number of exhibitors and cutting-edge technology only illustrates how the market is gearing up for the next-generation video surveillance technology. I get the idea that he’s exited to be part of this evolution.
