Moxa Raises the Bar for Rugged IP Camera Design

Moxa introduced a Full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) IP zoom camera that is engineered to withstand an unprecedented -40° to 167° F temperature range without a cooling fan. Offering long-term durability and reduced maintenance costs, the new Moxa VPort 56-2MP camera is tailored for mission-critical applications, indoors and outdoors, including long-distance remote site monitoring and harsh industrial locations.

"Harsh, extreme environments will destroy a standard IP camera, making our new VPort 56-2MP the only reliable solution for cold, wet or very hot conditions," said Jei Mercado, Moxa's product marketing specialist in IP surveillance. "Because of its groundbreaking durable and versatile design, the VPort 56-2MP is ideal whether you're safeguarding a border fence in a blistering hot desert or monitoring sub-zero conditions on a mountain top."

Mercado noted that with an optional robust IP68 and/or ATEX Zone 1/Class 1, Division 1 compliant housing, the camera is exceptionally well-suited for use in oil and gas refineries, mining operations, LNG facilities, marinas or chemical processing plants to meet rigorous international code requirements.

The VPort 56-2MP can be easily transformed into an IP positioning system with PTZ capability and two-way audio using an optional built-in fiber interface and PT scanner accessory. The fiber port extends network distances up to 87 miles, achieving a viable solution for remote applications. With 3D Digital-noise Reduction built in and 10x optical zoom/16x digital zoom, the camera brings extra clarity and precision to unique applications. New Sense Up ICR, and image stabilizer technology help to overcome poor lighting conditions, so images can be displayed in a wide dynamic range of dark to light.

The VPort 56-2MP supports ready-to-use NVR and VMS software for video surveillance systems, and provides a variety of software development kits for use with third-party VMS and SCADA software. It also supports industry standard ONVIF specifications for simpler and faster integration.
