An Amazing ISC West Event

There were a number of great take-a-ways from the 2018 ISC West event last week. My goal is to find great content for Security Today magazine for the remained of the year. I believe I have succeeded. Readers of the magazine are the benefactors of the industry insight that we will be sharing.

For instance, in the June issue of the magazine, Securonix will be authoring an article on Asset Protection. The cover story will be an interview and on-site review of Eagle Eye Networks' data center in Amsterdam.

In July, I have stories coming from HID Global and Milestone about Sporting Complex Security. ASSA ABLOY and Everbridge will be jumping in with stories about Critical Infrastructure. The July cover story will be an article that I am working on that highlights security training.

The August issue will feature a story from Aiphone talking about the renovation of downtown Las Angeles, also known as Downtown LA Live. The cover story in this issue will be written by Rob Lydic, from Isonas, who will detail his knowledge about access control.

Our September issue will be published in conjunction of ASIS, or I should say Global Security Exchange (GSX), and security experts from Bosch will write about IP Cameras, and Axis Communications will tackle the topic of Internet of Things. I'm also looking forward to working with Ron Worman, who represents Zenitel, and a multi-vendor story that will appear in this issue.

This year's ISC West was full of (enjoyable) surprises. Our booth is always so far back that I often think we're in Henderson, Nevada. Our neighbor this year was John Honovich and IPVM. IPVM provided about 15,000 bags for attendees to pick up on each during the three days. I grabbed one for sure. What I thought was hilarious was John's marketing to get an autograph on the bag, or stomp on them in protest, or show them off to your favorite manufacturer. I saw more bags at the Hikvision booth than anywhere else on the show floor.

The great part of this is the ongoing feud between IPVM and Hikvision. All in all it seemed appropriate that IPVM and Hikvision can coexist at the same tradeshow.
