Verkada has named Chris Stori as its new chief information officer, a move intended to bolster the company’s technical infrastructure as it expands its footprint in the physical security market.
Stori will oversee corporate IT strategy, business systems and technology-driven initiatives. The appointment follows a fiscal year in which the company reported 30% year-over-year revenue growth and a customer base exceeding 31,000 organizations.
Previously the CEO of Bright Machines, Stori spent more than a decade at Cisco in various leadership roles. His tenure included serving as senior vice president and general manager of networking experiences, where he managed portfolios for enterprise networking and the Internet of Things. He is credited with helping scale Meraki from 18,000 to more than 600,000 customers.
The leadership addition comes as the firm shifts toward "Physical AI," moving from passive surveillance to proactive security. The company recently launched AI-powered deterrence features that use vision and audio models to detect and warn intruders autonomously.
Data from the company indicates that 78% of its core customers now utilize at least two product lines, while more than 50% use three or more. According to company reports, the average customer nearly doubles their initial investment within the first year of engagement.
Stori, who also served as a consultant at McKinsey & Co. earlier in his career, will focus on scaling internal operations to support the company's increasing international market share.
