Intransa recently announced it has been selected by Garland Power & Light, a Texas municipal utility, to upgrade the company’s surveillance systems for physical infrastructure protection.

At the lower end of the video surveillance market, home and small business owners have traditionally installed analog cameras and DVRs to cover their security needs. However, remote video monitoring and surveillance (RVMaS) solutions are now vying for a share of this market.

Avigilon today announced the appointment of Dan Ireland as the company's regional sales director for Eastern Canada. Ireland will be responsible for meeting the growing market demand for Avigilon's award-winning high definition (HD) surveillance solutions in the region.
ADT Security Services recently announced sponsorship of Interact in Raleigh, N.C. -- a private, non-profit United Way agency providing safety, support and awareness to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
With the support of multiple new members, ONVIF now accelerates its efforts towards an open global standard for the interface of network video products. Several working groups were recently established with focus on conformance tools and the next version of the specification.
By all accounts, ISC West was extremely successful. The first two days, as already mentioned in the previous reports, were busy and fruitful. There may have been fewer attendees, but my thoughts were fewer pen collectors and more interested participants.

Stanley Convergent Security Solutions, Inc. has purchased monitoring lines and customer contracts from Sonitrol of South Texas, a Sonitrol dealer located in San Antonio. The sale includes contracts with mostly commercial retail, restaurant, healthcare, service and education customers being serviced throughout South Texas.
Of course the economy raised some concerns about attendance at ISC West this year. I’m not sure where attendance figures stand, but there seems to be lots of security people here in Las Vegas, all serious about new products and technology.

With more than 800 companies exhibiting at the 2009 ISC West tradeshow, it’s not surprising that there’s almost too much news to report coming out of the Sands Expo Center this week. And the fascinating, innovative products on display are almost too much to wrap your mind around.

Intransa recently announced that its StorAlliance Technology Certification program has continued to expand with additional physical security vendors now participating. Many members of the StorAlliance are joining Intransa in demoing risk-free, integrated solutions in their respective booths at ISC West.
Day one of the 2009 ISC West tradeshow left no doubt in my mind: the security industry is alive and well in this troubling economic time. The show floor was packed, and although there were whispers that attendance is down, I honestly couldn’t see a difference in the crowds from last year’s show.

Rumor has it that tradeshow officials expected fewer people this year. My very unofficial count says that there are more people at this year’s event. If not more, the aisles are surely crowded and the people attending have a keen interest in being here. Seems to me that attendance is up over last year and the tradeshow is a success. That’s day one in the books and, it will be interesting to see if the crowds are as heavy Thursday.

At an ISC West luncheon Wednesday, RISCO Group, a leading provider of integrated security systems, discussed the company’s launch of RISCO Group USA in September to better serve the North American market. RISCO Group Ltd. has been manufacturing security products for 30 years, with a presence in the U.S. market that spans more than 20 years as Rokonet Industries.
