Verizon Business Enhances Network Security For Nikon

Nikon Corp. one of Japan’s leading manufacturers of optical imaging and processing equipment, has selected Verizon Business to provide new monitoring and security measures to protect Nikon’s global network infrastructure.

As part of an initiative to optimize traffic flow and security across Nikon’s global network, the company will rely on Verizon Business’ expertise in investigative service support, including comprehensive data-movement monitoring across 150 global locations, to mitigate any potential security vulnerabilities.

Verizon Business will combine its Private IP, which runs on a fully private MPLS network, with its network devices and operational support services to bring Nikon’s network security to a new level. Nikon will be able to monitor and manage network traffic, and proactively recognize and respond to network security threats.

For several years, Verizon Business has provided Nikon with its global IP communications network, in-country backup systems and secure Internet gateway services, built on a combination of Verizon Private IP and Verizon Secure Gateway. Nikon has expanded rapidly, and Verizon Business’ global reach, combined with locally-based service capabilities, has proved to be a crucial element in enabling Nikon to achieve its business goals.

Across the Asia-Pacific region and around the world, Verizon Business provides an array of professional and managed security services including enhanced investigative response and forensics, denial of service protection, identity and access management, content monitoring and filtering, and data loss prevention. These services are designed to enhance protection of, and increase visibility into, an enterprise’s information assets, improving both security and compliance.

“We are continually expanding our networked business units worldwide and place a high priority on maximizing availability of our networked applications across all global locations to enhance business efficiency,” said Hajime Nakamura, Nikon Corp. manager, network design, information system planning department “The optimization of our global network is therefore a key business priority -- and we are always working to improve our overall monitoring and security capabilities.

“With Verizon Business’ support, we are confident that we will be able to make the most of our global infrastructure in support of our business objectives. Our relationship to date, combined with Verizon Business’ proven expertise and reputation in the security arena, means we are confident that we have found a trusted partner for the long term.”

“Verizon Business’ focus is on helping our customers do business better by providing the tools, experience and expertise to complement their internal operations,” said Itsuo Iso, Verizon Business area vice president for Japan. “For companies such as Nikon, it is all about providing the support they need to ensure their network is operating as effectively as possible, with full management transparency.

“By taking on the burden of network security management support, we’re able to help our customers focus on their own business objectives. There is no better endorsement for our strengths than when a customer chooses to extend and enhance its relationship with us. We look forward to helping Nikon grow and strengthen its global network to support further global business expansion for many years to come.”
