Genetec Access Control System Earns Strict French Cybersecurity Qualification

Genetec Inc became the sole high-assurance access control vendor to receive official qualification from the French National Cybersecurity Agency.

A physical security software developer has secured a rare governmental cybersecurity distinction for its digital door and gate security infrastructure.

The French National Cybersecurity Agency, known as ANSSI, granted its "Elementary level" qualification to the Genetec Security Center Synergis access control system. The rigorous evaluation process included extensive testing of the software alongside its connected cloud links, secure input-output modules, card readers and smart cards.

While basic security certifications verify that a product is safe at a single point in time, a formal qualification requires long-term compliance audits. The designation serves as an official mandate for critical industries looking to protect physical entry points from digital exploitation.

Organizations operating vital infrastructure — including hospitals, airports and energy grids — utilize these vetted systems to comply with tightening European regulatory frameworks. The qualification follows a preliminary security certification obtained by the company last year.

The newly qualified hardware and software architecture is currently available through accredited distribution networks.
