New York in November

Next week, I’ll be traveling to New York City to attend ISC Solutions -- now part of Security Week -- the northeast security event for dealers, integrators, installers and end users. Security Week encompasses four events: ISC Solutions, Securing New Ground, Security 500 and Security Week Gala. Many of the exhibitors already unveiled their newest products and services in September at ASIS so the slower-paced, more-intimate ISC Solutions is perfect for networking with industry colleagues and catching up on the latest company news.

The Security Industry Association and the InterPort Police will host the Security Week Gala on November 2, 2011, at the Lighthouse on Chelsea Pier 61. The Fred V. Morrone Memorial 9/11 Award and The George R. Lippert Memorial Award will be presented at the event. Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano will receive The Fred V. Morrone Memorial 9/11 Award for significantly contributed to making the world safer and contributed in protecting us form terrorist act.. Steve Roth, CEO of Tri-Ed/Northern Video Distribution, will recieve The George R. Lippert Memorial Award for making outstanding contributions to the security industry and SIA.

I also reserved a visitor’s pass for entrance to the National September 11 Memorial. I'm going to pay my respects, admire the engineering marvel of the two giant fountains -- the largest manmade waterfalls in North America -- that sit within the footprints of the Twin Towers and see SightLogix’s outdoor video system in action.

SightLogix, a supplier of outdoor area and perimeter security video systems, deployed its outdoor video system to protect the World Trade Center’s perimeter. The solution includes Thermal and Visible SightSensor video analytic cameras, Clear24 thermal cameras that use image processing to provide highly detailed thermal images in all weather condition, SightTracker automated PTZ/dome camera controllers for target identification, and SightMonitor coordination and GPS target location topology map display software. Portable solutions include the Video Security Trailer, a self-contained rapidly deployable perimeter security solution for temporary or long-term surveillance applications, and the Rapid Deployment Kit for first responders.

"SightLogix was founded to create an effective outdoor video analytic solution after observing video technology limitations at Ground Zero shortly after 9-11," said John Romanowich, president and CEO of SightLogix, in a press release. "We are honored to have our vision fulfilled through our selection to secure this key national asset."

It’s going to be a great show. See you there!

Hexagon’s Geosystems presents a portable version of its Accur8vision detection system. A rugged all-in-one solution, the A8V MIND (Mobile Intrusion Detection) is designed to provide flexible protection of critical outdoor infrastructure and objects. Hexagon’s Accur8vision is a volumetric detection system that employs LiDAR technology to safeguard entire areas. Whenever it detects movement in a specified zone, it automatically differentiates a threat from a nonthreat, and immediately notifies security staff if necessary. Person detection is carried out within a radius of 80 meters from this device. Connected remotely via a portable computer device, it enables remote surveillance and does not depend on security staff patrolling the area.

Snap One has announced its popular Luma x20 family of surveillance products now offers even greater security and privacy for home and business owners across the globe by giving them full control over integrators’ system access to view live and recorded video. According to Snap One Product Manager Derek Webb, the new “customer handoff” feature provides enhanced user control after initial installation, allowing the owners to have total privacy while also making it easy to reinstate integrator access when maintenance or assistance is required. This new feature is now available to all Luma x20 users globally. “The Luma x20 family of surveillance solutions provides excellent image and audio capture, and with the new customer handoff feature, it now offers absolute privacy for camera feeds and recordings,” Webb said. “With notifications and integrator access controlled through the powerful OvrC remote system management platform, it’s easy for integrators to give their clients full control of their footage and then to get temporary access from the client for any troubleshooting needs.”
