University of Kentucky Deploys Unified Security Management Platform to Enhance Campus Security

Next Level Security Systems, a developer of new breed, unified, networked security solutions, today announced that the University of Kentucky has chosen the company to provide its unified, networked security solutions to protect students, personnel and campus assets. The university will deploy a number of Next Level solutions, including its flagship product, the NLSS Gateway, a unified security management system that combines IP video management, access control, video analytics and intrusion into one appliance. The use of the NLSS Gateway enables the university to increase campus safety for more than 40,000 students, faculty and support staff.

The University of Kentucky is a public, land grant university dedicated to improving lives through excellence in education, research and creative work, service and health care. As Kentucky's flagship institution, the university plays a critical, leadership role by promoting diversity, inclusion and economic development.

With the assistance of systems integrator Dallmann Systems and BCCLT Consulting Engineers, the university will leverage innovative security technologies from Next Level to maintain a high level of safety and streamline communications across its infrastructure. With an extensive, campus environment that includes hundreds of buildings and the University of Kentucky Medical Center, the ability to correlate video surveillance, analytic alerts and access control data into a single-user interface enables the university to take a proactive stance with its security program by automating alerts and response to allow personnel to focus on more critical risks.

More than 2,000 video surveillance cameras will deliver comprehensive coverage throughout the 800+ acre campus and more than 40,000 individuals will be enrolled as cardholders. The NLSS Gateway’s eleven built-in video analytics provide real-time alerts based on customized user parameters to increase the efficiency of campus security personnel. Based on open standards, the NLSS Gateway will be integrated with the university’s mass notification system and Talk-a-Phone emergency call stations to further streamline awareness and system management. The University of Kentucky can also leverage NLSS Cloud Services to enable remote access and multi-site security management from any location.

“The integrated appliance approach, delivered by the NLSS Gateway, allows the University of Kentucky to rapidly pinpoint potential issues and respond quickly, leading to a proactive approach to security,” said Peter Jankowski, chairman and CEO, Next Level Security Systems. “It is our goal to provide our customers with the intelligence needed to quickly diagnose situations at any given moment and mitigate issues before they escalate. The integration of video, access control and other systems into one appliance creates a tremendous amount of cost savings and sustainability for the University of Kentucky."

The NLSS Gateway is available for one inclusive price with a no-license fee structure. The system is completely browser-based and is compatible with existing infrastructure investments.
