Altronix Showcases Innovative New Products at ISC West 2013

Altronix Showcases Innovative New Products at ISC West 2013Altronix, a manufacturer of low voltage power supplies and transmission solutions for the electronic security industry, is showcasing several new products here at ISC West 2013. Introductions include eBridgePlus Ethernet over Coax/PoE Adapters that transmit IP video, data and power over coaxial cable enabling legacy infrastructure to support IP devices; eFlow Innovative Power Supply/Chargers that provide value added performance for integrated systems; and FireSwitch Networked NAC Power Extenders with local and remote programming and status monitoring.

“Our expanded portfolio of power and transmission products makes it easy for installers and system designers to implement highly cost-efficient, effective and reliable systems,” said Alan Forman, president, Altronix. “Seeing the need to provide efficient migration paths from legacy analog to networked systems and devices, Altronix’s product portfolio includes solutions for any IP, coax or hybrid system infrastructure.”

Altronix’ new eBridgePlus Ethernet over Coax/PoE Adapters transmit IP video, data and power over coaxial cable enabling legacy infrastructure to support IP devices up to 1500 feet (5X maximum Ethernet distance) without repeaters. eBridgePlus receivers are available in single, 4 and 16 port configurations that  seamlessly operate with eBridgePlus single port transceivers. This new product series supports PoE and PoE+ cameras, accessories, and access control devices. In addition, a new eBridge1PCRM receiver is being introduced that passes power to cameras or devices from a powered switch, managed or unmanaged midspan. Utilizing a managed midspan such as the Altronix NetWay8M or 16M permits remotely resetting and the real-time status monitoring of devices. eBridgePlus also provides auto detection and protection of legacy non-PoE cameras and devices to avoid damage to equipment.

Altronix is also showcasing several new models in its series of eFlow Innovative Power Supply/Chargers. eFlow is available in a variety of models with an extensive complement of intelligent features that operate with security, fire and access control systems. The units provide one main power output and one additional Aux Class 2 rated power-limited output at 12VDC or 24VDC in a wide range of power ratings. The units feature supervised fire alarm disconnect, over voltage protection, and low power shutdown to protect stand-by batteries from deep discharge. eFlow products also feature a power LED indicator which is visible on the enclosure door for instant status verification.

Altronix’s new FireSwitch Networked NAC Power Extenders deliver a host of intelligent features including local and remote programming and status monitoring. These new features provide real-time status conditions to cost-effectively determine whether or not a service call is required. Units feature an LCD display on the enclosure’s front panel, and an Ethernet port for local or remote programming and monitoring. NAC outputs are selectable as Class B, Class A or continuous Aux power for a maximum of eight (8) Class B, four (4) Class A or eight (8) continuous Aux power outputs – or a combination of all with battery back-up. In addition, units feature a Class 2 rated power-limited Aux output. FireSwitch incorporates sync protocols for Cooper/Wheelock, Gentex, System Sensor, and Potter notification appliances.

Altronix is also showing its popular lines of NetWay PoE Midspan Injectors, HubWay UTP Video Solutions, VertiLine Rack Mount Power Solutions, ReServ UPS Series for video surveillance, WayPoint Outdoor Power Supplies, and StrikeIt Panic Device Power and Control products here at ISC West 2013.

  • The Evolution of IP Camera Intelligence

As the 30th anniversary of the IP camera approaches in 2026, it is worth reflecting on how far we have come. The first network camera, launched in 1996, delivered one frame every 17 seconds—not impressive by today’s standards, but groundbreaking at the time. It did something that no analog system could: transmit video over a standard IP network. Read Now

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
