ASIS Supports Chula Vista Body Camera Program

Local security professionals are in support of the Chula Vista Police Department’s program

ASIS announced in a press release that it has made an additional $1,000 donation to the Chula Vista Police Department’s body camera program. This is after the group donated $5,000 in April. The money will be used to supply officers with body cameras, allowing them record incidents and crime scenes while on duty.

“As with any emerging technology, body worn cameras can be expensive and challenging to deploy and manage effectively,” said Vern Sallee, captain for support operations at CVPD. “Thanks to public/private partnerships like this, the Chula Vista Police Department has been able to leverage this technology successfully and deploy cameras more quickly than we could have otherwise done. This donation will directly help line-level police officers as they serve the citizens of Chula Vista by improving the documentation of police contacts and accountability.  Thanks to organizations like ASIS, the Chula Vista Police Department will continue to be on the leading edge of progressive policing well into the future.”

The money will cover roughly 12 of the department’s 120 body cameras.
