More than 13,000 Registrants from 85 Nations Attend GSX 2022

Global Security Exchange (GSX) 2022 has concluded at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Presented by ASIS International, the world's largest association for security management professionals, the event offered discussion and idea exchanges for the global security community. Attendance exceeded projections, with more than 13,000 registrants from 85 countries along with more than 400 exhibitors demonstrating the latest security solutions.

GSX 2022 kicked off on September 12 with a keynote presentation from globally-acclaimed Argentinian entrepreneur and CEO of Asteroid Technologies, Mateo Salvatto, who discussed the issue of inclusion along with the creation of Háblalo, an app that helps anyone with a communication disability communicate with others by using features like text-to-voice translation, voice-to-text translation, and more. Following Salvatto’s keynote presentation, the event’s exhibit hall opened – showcasing more than 400 industry leaders from four continents. Exhibiting companies included ADT Commercial, Allied Universal, ASSA ABLOY, Azena, Boon Edam, Bosch Security and Safety Systems, Cognyte, Evolv Technology, Esri, Everbridge, Hanwha Techwin, NAPCO Security Technologies, OnSolve, Prosegur Security, Salient Systems, Securitas, Smiths Detection, and Trackforce Valiant. Monday also launched the start of 173 educational sessions over this three-day event.

September 13 featured a keynote address by accomplished infosec expert, Jake Williams (aka, Malware Jake), whose expertise in analyzing security control designs and ensuring they're deployed effectively tackled the issue of security testing and validating security controls. He reminded the audience that when it came to physical and cyber, you cannot separate one from the other in today’s environment.

The final day of GSX, September 14, celebrated Military and Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and featured former CEO of the Center for Civil and Human Rights, Global Soap Project Founder, and CNN Hero keynote presenter, Derreck Kayongo. In his keynote address, “A Pathway to Courageous Conversations”, Kayongo focused on the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in hiring – both in the security industry and the world at large. As a thank you to all active duty and veteran military, law enforcement, and first responders, these groups were invited to attend GSX for free this day.

GSX once again featured SM Live, a daily broadcast featured conversations between industry leaders and editor-in-chief of ASIS International’s award-winning Security Management magazine, Teresa Anderson. In all, SM Live spotlighted 15 discussions with industry leaders and innovators on topics ranging from cybersecurity to workplace violence prevention.

GSX 2022 highlighted two Game Changer sessions with industry experts provided lively presentations on the how to build trust in your personal security brand as well as innovative approaches to thwarting cyberattacks.

Among the robust learning opportunities at GSX, the event featured a number of “speed learning” sessions, including the X Stage featuring cutting-edge solutions that actively shape the future of the security professional. The UnCrewed U Stage offered 14 short, twenty-minute sessions and product demos of the latest uncrewed aircraft platforms, counter UAS systems, and ground-based robots. The Cybercon Stage addressed topics ranging from the convergence between physical and cybersecurity to effective ways of building public private partnerships pre- and post-crisis. While over at Career HQ, security professionals were offered resume reviews, access to the headshot studio, professional development sessions.

According to the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, GSX generated a direct economic impact of $17.5 Million, and directly supported approximately 5,000 jobs in that community.
